Female Coach Mentorship Program
The Department of Health and Wellness (DHW) recognizes that there are far fewer females coaching sport in Nova Scotia than males. Likewise, the percentage of female versus male coaches remains low in comparison to female participation in sport. The Female Coaching Mentor program has been developed to assist and support female coaches to pursue higher levels of coaching certification and gain valuable coaching experience that will contribute to their coaching career advancement. Coaching Association of Canada - Women in Coaching Program
The Women in Coaching program is a national campaign lead by the Coaches Association of Canada aimed to increase the number of coaching opportunities for women, at all levels of sport. Research has revealed that female coaches are under represented especially in the high performance areas of coaching. In order to address these issues a number of grants, scholarships and resources have been developed to support female coaches.

Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport & Physcial Actoivity (CAAWS) - Women in Leadership Program
The Province of Nova Scotia has recently partnered with CAAWS to deliver the Women in Leadership program in Nova Scotia. CAAWS’ Women and Leadership Program consists of a series of five professional development sessions that blend theory with practical applications, and provide an opportunity for women working or volunteering in the sport or physical activity sector to share experiences, reflect on ideas and apply specific techniques. The sessions also allow for networking opportunities among participants.
