National Coaches Week (September 17th-24th) is a time to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.
National Coaches week in Nova Scotia this year has a focus on promoting and developing female coaches. It is recognized that there are far fewer females coaching sport in Nova Scotia than males and the percentage of female versus male coaches remains low in comparison to female participation in sport.
During National Coaches week the Provincial Government, WomenActive Nova Scotia and Support 4 Sport, have partnered together to offer free National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport (CAAWS) workshops to female coaches throughout Nova Scotia. In total, there will be 18 different workshops across the province representing 12 different sports.
Each day of National Coaches Week we will also be releasing a short video featuring a female coach from Nova Scotia in nine different sports. Please feel free to share these short videos through your different social media and regional contacts. Here is the link to the athlete video we did for the coaching association of Canada
