National Coaches Week 2017

National Coaches Week (September 22nd- 30th, 2017) is a time to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach

National Coaches week in Nova Scotia this year has a focus on celebrating diversity and inclusion within the coaching community. A number of coaching events will be run across the province and we will celebrate coaches from our rich diverse culture. In partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada we will also be launching the new on-line athletes with a disability module.

Launch of the Coaching Athletes with a disability eLearning Module

To ensure that all athletes experience a positive, safe, and inclusive sport experience, the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) has developed the National Coaching Certification Program’s (NCCP) Coaching Athletes with a Disability eLearning module.

This eLearning module provides coaches the knowledge to deliver quality, positive sport experience for athletes with behavioural, intellectual, physical and sensory disabilities.

Coaching Athletes with a Disability NCCP training is a resource for coaches who are new to coaching athletes with a disability. As well, many coaches who are already working with athletes with a disability will find useful information and resources in the online module.

Regional Coach Engagement Sessions

After listening to feedback during the April Coaching Conference, we have planned a cross-province tour during Coaches Week to connect to and hear from the community coaches and listen to their needs. The purpose of these sessions is to try and understand what the needs of coaches are at the community level - here the challenges and identify the opportunities that exist to ensure that we serve coaches effectively across the province. We are hoping to get a mix of sports and experience levels at each gathering and your communication and encouragement will assist us in meeting that goal. To register follow the link below,
