Based on the Canadian Sport for Life model of long-term athlete development, this NCCP workshop explores the themes of fair play, safety responsibility, and communication. The goal is to expose participants to an innovative process that will help them teach the Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) of throwing, catching, jumping, striking, running, kicking, agility, and balance and coordination. FMS are the basis for developing Physical Literacy in Children and form the foundation for future sport skill development and for the life-long enjoyment of physical activity. Community Leader (8 hour clinic)
Target
- Municipally-based recreation professionals working with young children
- Daycare professionals
- Sport camps leaders
- Other community-based leaders operating programs for young children
The 12 units are designed to be delivered in a one-day workshop format. Each unit focuses on a specific aspect of teaching movement skills or on a specific movement skill. The units give workshop participants many opportunities to assess and improve their teaching of fundamental movement skills.

High School Leadership
Target - High-School senior students participating in a Leadership or Advanced Physical Education class
The workshop consists of 12 units. Each unit is approximately 45 minutes long which allows for easy adaptation into a secondary school curriculum. Each unit focuses on a specific aspect of teaching movement skills or on a specific movement skill. The units give students many opportunities to assess and improve their teaching of fundamental movement skills as well as leadership skills such as activity delivery and effective communication.

Coach Professional Development (3 hours)
Target - Coaches and Instructors with previous NCCP training or certification
The Coach Professional Development workshop focuses solely on the identification and improvement of fundamental movement skills that are the foundation of solid sport specific skills. The workshop format offers participants many opportunities to assess and improve their analysis of fundamental movement skills.
